FIA Girls On Track - Dare To Be Different

Dear parents and guardians,

It always requires courage to dare to be different. However, only those who dare to try new things and take on new challenges will grow with their tasks. Women who are already successful as reporters or engineers or even racing drivers in motorsport and other professions which are not typically done by girls prove this day by day. But one thing is clear: there are still far too few girls and young women who choose this career path for themselves.

The FIA, the governing body for world motor sport and the federation of the world’s leading motoring organisations, and "Dare to be Different", a non-profit association founded by the former DTM and Formula 1 driver and today's Team Principal of Formula E Venturi Team Susie Wolff, have together set themselves the goal of encouraging the next generation of young girls "to dare to be different" and to inspire them towards one of these career paths,

Therefore, we hereby invite your daughter/s to come to the "FIA Girls on Track - Dare to be Different" event. The event will be held as part of the FIA Formula E-Prix on the grounds of the Tempelhof-Ring in Berlin on May 23 and 24.

With "FIA Girls on Track - Dare to be Different" we offer a unique platform and give girls and young women an unusual look into another world. Nowhere else will your daughter/s get to experience such a variety of professions in the environment of one of the most modern racing series in the world. In the all-electric Formula E, technologies are tested on the limit, and will later find their way into our everyday lives. Team spirit, dedication and enjoyment of the tasks are especially important in motor sport.

The events will take place on Thursday morning, 23rd May, and on Thursday afternoon, 23rd May and Friday morning, 24th May.

For the girls there is an action-packed day with different activities to inspire and test their skills

STEM: a technology-based activity.
COMMUNICATION: slip into the role of a TV journalist and present in front of the camera.
FIA ACTION FOR ROAD SAFETY: the girls go through a course with various obstacles and are then taught the dangers of distraction.
FIA ENVIRONMENT: this is about pollution and what you can do about it yourself.
LEAVING COMFORT ZONE: Doing a few laps in an e-kart (of course, only those who wish).
MEET & GREET with our ambassadors who will give the girls an insight into the different exciting career opportunities in the sport

As an extra, the girls can look behind the scenes of one of the most modern series in motor sport, the ABB Formula E in Berlin:

• A tour of the pit lane and visiting the Formula E teams in their pits.
• Meet & Greet with some of the racers and our ambassadors
• Look closely at a real Formula E racing car and get background information
• and much more

Your daughter/s will be energised and motivated after this event and know that each and every one - whether girl or boy - can learn their dream job and be successful in it.

Of course, participation is free of charge for the girls. In addition, each gets a little souvenir. All participants will also be invited to the Allianz E-Village on Friday, 24th May and Saturday, 25th May, the eventful meeting point for all fans, close to the racetrack.

For more information about the programme and to enable your daughter/s to participate in this unique event, register online here.

Since the demand is usually high and the number of participants is limited, we will consider the applications in chronological order.

We look forward to meeting you and your daughter/s soon in Berlin!
